## Open and finish editing

Dropdowns show the current paragraph style, font, size, and color. Opening another dropdown closes the previous one. Keyboard focus and editor selection are preserved for formatting.

1. Select a Study Notes entry, choose Notes, and click Edit notes.
2. Place the caret or select the text you want to format.
3. Choose the relevant toolbar command. Click a dropdown control to open it; click again, outside, or press Escape to close it.
4. Use Undo or Redo to review changes, then Save notes. Cancel restores the saved note.
5. Save the pack to update the external pack file.

## Formatting and layout tools

Text color offers Default text and named colors. Highlight color offers Yellow, Green, Pink, Blue, Amber, Lavender, and Remove highlight. Unformatted text follows the active app theme; explicitly applied colors and highlights remain intentional formatting. The swatch labelled Default text applies a color rather than restoring inheritance. Clear formatting removes text color and emphasis; use it only when you intend to remove that formatting.

In a Checklist, Enter creates the next item; Enter on an empty item exits the list. Click or tap its checkbox to check it.

## Turn text into a quiz blank

1. In Editing notes, select the answer text inside a single paragraph or list item.
2. Click Quiz blank, or press Ctrl+Q.
3. Save notes. Marked answers become Fill the blanks prompts when you start a quiz containing that entry.
4. To remove the blank marker, select or place the caret in that marked answer and use Quiz blank again.

Keep in mind: A blank needs nonempty selected text inside one block. Each entry supports up to 64 blanks; very large answers are also bounded. Use short, meaningful answers. Ctrl+Q uses the Control key, including on a Mac; it is not a Command-key shortcut.

## Insert links and tables

- Hyperlink: select text or place the caret, enter Web address and optional Link text, then Apply. For an existing link, Remove keeps the text. Supported targets include web, email, and telephone links.
- Insert table: choose Rows (1–12) and Columns (1–8), then Insert table. The first row is a header row. Tab and Shift+Tab move between cells; Tab at the final cell adds a row.

## Add math and annotations

- Equation or math: enter Math expression, choose Inline or Display layout, then Insert. Reopening an existing equation offers Update and Remove. The supported syntax includes x^2, x_1, fractions, square roots, Greek letters, sums, integrals, and infinity; it is not a complete LaTeX typesetter.
- Comment or annotation: select text, enter Comment, then Apply. Existing annotations can be changed or removed. Hovering marked text shows the annotation.
- Find within note: enter Find text, then Previous match or Next match. Matching ignores case and wraps. Enter finds the next match; Shift+Enter finds the previous one.

## Insert an image into a note

An image inside a note is different from a separate attachment in Images for this entry. Use the separate attachment editor when you want Tape-based image quizzes.

1. Use Insert image into notes, paste an image from the clipboard, or drop image files into the notes editor.
2. Select an inserted image to move, resize, or rotate it with its handles.
3. Choose Inline, Front, or Behind for placement, or Delete to remove the selected image.
4. Save notes and then save the pack.

## Questions and answers

### How do I turn text into a quiz blank?

In Edit notes, select answer text inside one paragraph or list item. Click Quiz blank or press Ctrl+Q, then Save notes. The marked answer becomes a Fill the blanks prompt in a Study Notes quiz. Use Quiz blank again to remove the marker without deleting the answer. An entry supports up to 64 blanks.

### Why does an explicitly colored passage stay the same after I change theme?

Unformatted text follows the theme. A color explicitly chosen in Text color stays applied. The Default text swatch also applies a color. Clear formatting removes text color and emphasis; use it only when you intend to remove those choices.

### Does Save notes save my Google Drive file?

Save notes stores the edited note in the current local pack. Use the pack’s Save action to update its linked device or Google Drive file. The same distinction applies to Save image and Save canvas.
