Canvas
Open the drawing workspace, save an entry’s canvas, and distinguish drafts from saved pack files.

Draw in a Study Notes entry
Native browser fullscreen is used when available; if the browser refuses it, the workspace still fills its available viewport. Switching from notes saves changed notes first. You must save or cancel a Canvas draft before switching back to Notes.
Saving an empty scene clears the entry’s saved Canvas. The read-only preview offers −, +, and Fit canvas to content.
- Select a Study Notes entry and choose Canvas beside Notes.
- Click Edit canvas to open the full-viewport Excalidraw workspace.
- Use its drawing, text, shape, image, selection, and zoom tools to build the scene.
- Click Save canvas to store the scene and return to the entry.
- Save the pack to write the scene into your device or Drive file.
Leave a Study Notes Canvas draft deliberately
Cancel closes a clean editor. For a changed drawing, Cancel or the mobile X asks Discard?; a second click discards the draft. Save canvas keeps it.
In the Study Notes Excalidraw workspace, Escape outside text fields and dialogs exits the focused view; it is not a Save or a Discard action. Return to the editor to finish the draft deliberately. On mobile, the compact controls include Save, undo/redo, and zoom controls; the percentage reset returns editor zoom to 100%.
Desktop wheel zoom and right-drag pan the drawing area. A stationary right-click keeps the editor’s normal context-menu behavior. Do not confuse this drawing pan with moving an attached microscope window.
The Draw tool’s Brush size runs from 1–100. Clicking an already selected tool with property options toggles its property submenu. Drawing, zooming, or using history dismisses that submenu without hiding the tools.
Use Canvas on a Flashcard face
The Flashcard/image drawing editor is separate from the Study Notes Excalidraw scene. Choosing another face content type can replace the Canvas, so save a copy before changing that type.
- Select the Flashcard face and choose Canvas or Edit canvas.
- Use Pen, Eraser, the brush size and colors. White and Black set the drawing background; Clear clears the drawing.
- Add or adjust an image if needed. Delete or Backspace removes a selected image.
- Click Save, then save the pack.
If the workspace cannot open
The Study Notes drawing editor loads its editor assets when needed. A blocked or interrupted download can prevent opening; check your connection and retry. Keep a saved pack before clearing browser data as a troubleshooting step.
Canvas tools supplied by Excalidraw remain available in its own interface. Use its in-editor help for the complete native tool and shortcut list; the ColloqAid Keyboard shortcuts guide covers commands confirmed in this app.
Questions and answers
How do I use Canvas?
In a Study Notes entry, select Canvas → Edit canvas, draw in the full-viewport workspace, then Save canvas. Save the pack separately to update its file. Flashcards has a separate face Canvas with Pen, Eraser, colors, background controls, and Save.
Does Escape save my Canvas?
No. Escape exits the focused view without meaning Save or Discard. Use Save canvas to keep the drawing, or Cancel and the changed Discard? confirmation to abandon a changed draft.
