Read a study set, practice identification and blanks, rate Flashcards, and repeat missed questions.

Open Study Mode
On mobile, drag the Images heading upward to increase its panel height or downward to reduce it. The keyboard resize handle uses Up/Down, Home, End, and Escape.
- In Study Notes, select an entry. To launch a Gold Star set, star multiple entries and select one that is in that set; otherwise Library launch uses the current entry.
- Click Study Mode in the Notes/Canvas panel, or Study selected set in quiz setup.
- Choose an entry from the Study Mode list and read its notes, ordinary images, or Canvas preview.
- On mobile, tap the entry heading to expand or collapse the list/name. Swipe left for the next eligible entry or right for the previous one in the current library/quiz scope.
- Use Close to return.
Choose and start a quiz
Only content ready for that quiz enters the round. In Study Notes, Identify creates entry-name questions using images and microscope previews, Tapes creates questions from answered covers, and marked notes create Fill the blanks questions. Switching Identify or Tapes off does not remove note-blank questions.
- Open Quiz → Choose your quiz set.
- Choose All study-ready entries, Selected code groups, or Saved custom groups.
- For Study Notes, choose Difficulty: Normal, High, or Strict if desired. High is the default.
- Click Shuffle and start.
Answer a Study Notes question
An unsuccessful typed Check allows a retry rather than immediately adding to Wrong. Revealing records the question as wrong. Shift+Enter invokes Reveal when that control is available. For blanks, reveal works through unresolved answers in reading order.
Study opens the current Study Notes material after its answer has been accepted or revealed. Inspecting a microscope preview opens the same attachment viewer used in the entry.
- Read the prompt and inspect its image or microscope preview when useful.
- Enter an answer and click Check, or press Enter.
- If needed, retry an incorrect typed answer. Reveal answer resolves the question as wrong.
- For Fill the blanks, enter answers and use Check blanks. Resolve or reveal all blanks before moving on.
- Once the question is resolved, choose Next. Back revisits one previous question; the return action then reads Forward.
Answer a Flashcard
Flashcards does not use the Study Notes typed Check, Reveal, or Next controls. Answered image Tape covers can also produce card prompts.
- Read the front, then click or tap the card to see its back.
- Choose I know or I don't know, or swipe right or left respectively on a touch device.
- The quiz records your rating and advances automatically.
Finish, repeat, or leave a round
At the result screen, use Finish quiz, Repeat missed questions/cards/prompts, or Start new round as offered for your quiz. The summary reports the completed round’s outcomes.
Exit quiz during a round asks for a second click: the button changes to Are you sure? Confirm within three seconds to leave. Escape uses the quiz exit confirmation rather than silently abandoning the round.
The entry timer is separate from quiz scoring. Edit its digits to set a duration, then use Start and Reset. Enter on its digit editor toggles the timer.
Questions and answers
How do I use Study Mode?
Select a Study Notes entry, or Gold Star a set, then click Study Mode in the Notes/Canvas panel. Choose entries in the reader; on mobile, use the heading to open the entry list and swipe between entries. Flashcards uses flip-and-rate quizzes instead.
Why is an entry missing from my quiz?
An entry must have quiz-ready content: usable identification media with Identify enabled, answered Tape covers with Tapes enabled, or marked note blanks. A title, plain notes without blanks, or a Canvas alone does not create a Study Notes recall prompt.
Why did a wrong attempt not increase the Wrong total?
A failed typed Check lets you try again. Reveal answer resolves the question as wrong. In Flashcards, I don't know records the missed card and advances automatically.
